To route my audio (including an optical in from a range of sources), I use a Clarett 4pre Thunderbolt Audio interface. This allows up to 8 instruments to be channeled into my DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

I use a Behringer Xenyx Q802 USB Mixer to feed audio from my Computer (including mics and Digital Audio Workstation) into the iPad, so that I can take a good solid sound source into the Switcher app. You can buy this mixer at Amazon.
